Gathering Requirements - Task Analysis
Introduction
Our proposed app, FundBites is an app to help those in poverty primarily by donation in forms of money, food, clean water and clothes. Before we begin to create the apps, we must first gather the necessary requirements by doing task analysis. There are 3 target users for our apps; companies, non-profit organizations, and students. Each target user will conduct 2 tasks from ShareTheMeal application and 1 task from VolunteerMatch website. The 3 tasks are represented as table 1.

Persona 3 - Student
Background information
Name : Zahra Aulia Khairunisa
Date of birth : 29 June 2002
Gender : Female
Education level : Undergraduate Student
Marital Status : Single
Zahra Aulia Khairunisa is a 19-year-old undergraduate student at the Univesitas Islam Negri Sunan Kalijaga, where she is studying Islamic law and literature. Her parents instilled in her a kind spirit from an early age, and as a result, she has a generous character. In her elementary school, her school frequently hosted charity events, and she was always enthusiastic to participate in these activities. The beggars she came across were frequently helped by her from there. While still in junior high school, she was invited to take a visit to an orphanage to provide compensation to the children there, and she has done so every year since then.
The teenager, Zahra, is known for her strong sense of leadership. She and her friends actively arrange charitable events to benefit the less fortunate in her school's neighbourhood and the poor people residing in urban areas along the river's sides. The children learn the Quran there, and she also helps people in need by distributing essential supplies from the donations they collect at school. In addition to making her feel sympathetic, all of these activities fostered in her an exceptional sense of empathy for others. As a result of her experiences, she has grown to appreciate her life and everything that God has provided for her.
Scenario
Scenario 1 - Share Poverty Awareness on their social platform
Mr. Hafiz has recently become increasingly dissatisfied with the economic position in the neighbourhood, which he attributes to the COVID-19 pandemic. People are finding it tough to provide for their families by earning a living. Small businesses on the street have a difficult time finding customers. Aside from that, there were layoffs at various companies, resulting in the loss of employment opportunities for many people. Not only are individuals at risk from the virus, but there have also been natural disasters that have claimed lives and caused significant property damage in a matter of minutes. Due to this fact, he was compelled to share these issues to his social media platform.
Since Mr Hafiz is already the user of FundBites, he signs in to his existing account to enter the homepage of the app. He looks at the “News” section and taps on it. He looks for the relevant economic poverty articles available in the app to share in his company’s social media as he already has a lot of followers. When he finds the article he would like to share, he clicks on the sharing options to get the shareable link. He then posts the articles on FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter in hope to gain more poverty awareness when people read the article.
Scenario 2 - Recruiting online volunteers
On a Sunday morning, Mr Wan was eating his breakfast at home while reading the daily newspaper. He got informed of the current awareness regarding period poverty happening in Malaysia. The issue was brought up as people do not regard sanitary products as basic necessities, resulting in poor women undergoing menstrual difficulties every month. As a father of 2 daughters, he feels empathy for someone with period poverty. He wanted to recruit some volunteers to help people in rural areas to donate sanitary pads. However, with the current MCO, he could not gather many volunteers in the same place due to COVID-19. He began searching for online volunteering recruitments through the web and stumbled across a suggestion to download FundBites that is available in Google app store.
As he downloads the application, he needs to create an account or sign in through google account. He chose to sign up with a Google account as it is more convenient and trusted by him. After signing in, he could see a section to apply for volunteering. He pressed the button and it displayed the possible volunteering application nearby him. However, he wants to recruit volunteers, not applying for it, so he notices that at the top of the page, there is an option that says “I want to recruit volunteers”. When he pressed the option, the app redirected him to the "contact us" information page that displayed their email address and phone number. He was given an option to write an email and send it or call their office. Mr Wan chose to call since he could get faster responses. After the call session, he gets the approval and can see the details of the organization that is now available to recruit online volunteers for his cause of action.
Scenario 3 - Send donation online
Zahra has noticed that the world is not doing well these days. When she uses her cell phone to access social media, she receives a lot of negative news from the internet, which she finds upsetting. She began looking for and asking people in her immediate vicinity whether they knew of anyone who had been affected by recent disasters or who needed financial support. Fortunately, everything worked out just fine for them. Despite the fact that she has more food than she needs, Zahra still wants to contribute a small amount of money to those in need. She recognises that even the smallest gifts she can give will be extremely beneficial to them. After researching a number of sources of information on the internet, she was able to attain enlightenment. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that she is a busy student, she does not have much free time to go and provide direct assistance to those in need.
Due to the limited amount of time she had available, she needed to figure out a means to continue donating without interfering with her class schedule. FundBites was an app recommended to her by a friend. She proceeded to download the application as she is interested in giving it a try. She begins by registering as a new user on the FundBites app. Afterwards, she explores the app under the “Donate” section. She found out that the place she wants to donate is available after using the “Search” feature. She chooses the location and the category she wants to donate, which is the “Donate food” category, and proceeds to enter the amount she desires. After she confirms her donation, she presses the “Give Now” button and continues to fill in her payment details. After the donation is completed, the app sends her an email of “Donation Successful”.

Comments for Task 1 videos and HTA:
ReplyDelete1) It is hard for me to follow the user's navigation because the cursor was not captured. Please make the cursor visible/capture the cursor movements for the videos for task 2 and task 3 ok. No need to retake videos for task 1
2) HTA for user 1 seems not tally with the video. Should be:
0. One-time donation of RM21 for families in Lebanon
1. Scroll through Home tab
2. Scroll through Give tab
2.1 Stop scrolling at Give emergency food to families in Lebanon
2.2 Tap Give now button
2.3 Tap pen icon beside default amount
2.4 Scroll to amount RM24.50
2.5 Tap Give RM24.50 now button
2.6 Tap Confirm button at summary page
Please add plans accordingly
3) For user 2, in your HTA there is a sub-task that is the same as user 1: Tap pen icon beside default amount, but why does the interface after the user click the pen icon different than after user 1 click the pen icon? can you check and verify again which button exactly the user tap/click for both user 1 and 2? For user 3 does the user really scrolled the home tab? if not then can remove it from your HTA
4) based on the example I've given for your HTA user 1, please correct the HTA for user 2 and 3 accordingly
5) Please don't give hints/instructions to users to go where, let the user do it themselves. Explain to them beforehand that they need to think aloud
6) complete the rest of videos and HTAs for task 2 and task 3 by taking into account my comments above
Addressing your point no 3) Dr, the interfaces are different due to different OS used. User 1 uses iOS while user 2 uses android. Both users did tap the pen icon beside default amount.
DeleteOK, can include in the discussion of different interfaces between iOS and android in your findings
